‘The Bear’ Season 3’s New Teasers Show That Carmy Is Gunning for a Michelin Star

Everything has changed, according to a new teaser for season three of The Bear. Well, maybe not everything.

Ahead of the show’s return later this month, FX just dropped two 43-second clips—and fans are eating them up. The first video opens with a montage of sous chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), and Marcus (Lionel Boyce) shouting “doors,” more restaurant lingo typically heard around the back of house. Then comes Jeremy Allen White’s character, Carmy, who’s busy getting the place in tip-top Michelin shape.

Tina bravely asks, “What’s with the menu change?” To which Sydney responds, “We’re going to change everything every day.” There’s also an especially funny remark from Fak (Matty Matheson), who says that the whole thing is “kind of banana town.” Banana town, indeed.

“That’s how restaurants at the highest level operate,” Carmy reassures his crew of Chicago misfits. In the next scene, his sister Natalie, played by Abby Elliott, asks: “Why are you doing this?” Carmy’s answer? “We’re going to get a star.” The teaser finishes with glass shattering, plates smashing, water glasses overflowing, and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) blissfully unaware of what day it is.

In the next teaser, which the network released on Tuesday, the clip starts with the team reviewing pages of non- negotiables Carmy jotted down for the Bear. Naturally, they don’t seem thrilled, specifically Sydney, who’s supposed to be a partner in the new restaurant. “Shirts perfectly pressed, never repeat ingredients, change menu every day,” repeats Natalie, reading from the list.

Once again, Carmy is asked why he’s doing this. His response this time: “So they can see what we’re capable of.” If, like Sydney, you’re wondering who “they” are, Carmy could be referring to any number of food critics, a Michelin inspector, the fine-dining industry as a whole, his family, or anyone who’s ever doubted the prodigal Manhattan chef.

The third season of the critically acclaimed comedy is set to feature 10 episodes and will stream in its entirety on Hulu on June 27. In the meantime, you can check out the full trailer for The Bear here. Needless to say, there is financial drama in store, guest cameos, beautifully plated food, and plenty of gratuitous yelling.
