Italian watchmaker Panerai has a history of creating timepieces suitable for military application. While its history is mostly intertwined with that of the Italian military, Panerai has revealed a new 2024 capsule that is inspired by the American Navy Seals.
Taking cues from the aesthetic and function of desert camouflage, these four new timepieces share cohesive design elements, such as a Navy Seals decal at the six o’clock position, a small seconds timer shaped like a target, in addition to the Navy Seals logo being displayed on the case back. The indexes on each piece are also coated with sand-colored Super-LumiNova, adding to the desert aesthetic.
The capsule itself is comprised of four separate watches, the PAM01518, PAM01513 and the PAM01669 were all released in September, while the PAM01521 is a limited edition variant of only 80 pieces that with become available in October.

The Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy SEALs, PAM01518 is presented in a 44mm brushed stainless steel case. Of the four watches, this features the cleanest simple design. There’s a unidirectional rotating bezel and a no-date design that leans into the symmetry of the piece.
Users can expect 30 bar or 300m (approx. 985 ft) of water resistance and on the inside, the PAM01518 is powered by the reliable P.900 movement which has a three-day power reserve. The watch also has a stop-second function which allows for precise time setting.

Next, the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattrom GMT Navy SEALs Carbotech PAM01513, also utilizes a 44mm case, however, this time made from a Panerai-made composite material based on carbon fiber known at Carbotech. This material is 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel yet exceeds both materials when it comes to strength and durability. Due to the way this material is formed, each watch will bear a slightly different appearance, creating a piece that is unique to the owner.
The piece’s case back is made from Titanium DLC, protecting the P.900/GMT movement, which has a three-day power reserve, and as a GMT this piece is also capable of displaying a second time zone. Potentially a strong choice for divers, this watch has 50 bar (500m / 1,650 ft) water resistance.
