Kentucky Joe by The Mansion Bar at The Mansion on Turtle Creek – Elite Traveler

Chocolate, coffee and whiskey: what better combination to keep cozy as fall settles in? While the temperatures may still be hovering in Dallas, that hasn’t stopped The Mansion Bar at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek from fully embracing the seasonal spirit.

Tucked into this historic Dallas property, the intimate setting of The Mansion Bar with its dim lighting and live jazz, makes for the ultimate evening escape for those seeking flavor and ambiance in equal measure. And just like the bar’s decor itself, The Mansion Bar’s drink selection seeks to add a contemporary twist to the setting’s storied heritage.

With signature spins on classic cocktails like the Texas Margarita – a refreshing mix of Gunpowder Gin, house tonic, Makrut lime leaf and grapefruit zest – and the Pecan Old Fashioned – made with pecan-infused TX whiskey, Velvet Falernum and a unique blend of bitters – bar manager Stephen Wheeler has perfected a menu that strikes the balance between tradition and originality. One of the latest creations, Kentucky Joe, is a prime example of this artful blend.

“Inspired by the equestrian heritage that graces our bar, Kentucky Joe is a nod to the iconic Kentucky Derby and the rye whiskey that put the state on the map,” Wheeler shares. “The bold, earthy flavor of roasted coffee beans blends seamlessly with the oaky, fruity, and spiced notes of rye whiskey. This cocktail strikes a perfect balance between tradition and bold innovation, offering a rich and robust experience for those who appreciate the distinctive character of rye.”
