Diamonds are a girl’s (and guy’s) best friend. At tonight’s Oscars, the red carpet was all sparkle as the hottest names in Hollywood hit the town for the biggest event of the season: the 96th annual Academy Awards. The stars came out to shine head to toe with some incredible jewels, from brooches to multiple statement necklaces punctuating each look. Here are 13 of our favorite jewelry moments from the evening.
Cillian Murphy in Sauvereign
Cillian Murphy joined castmate Florence Pugh and the rest of the powerhouse crew of Oppenheimer at this year’s Academy Awards. It turned out to be a big night for Murphy, who was up for his first Oscar for Best Actor in the film and clinched the win. The Irish actor was well-prepared for the occasion, dressed in some extra special wares for the evening. Ahead of the star-studded event, Sauvereign, designed by founder Bertrand Mak, conceived and created a bespoke brooch for Murphy. The HS14 Gem Brooch is cast in 18-karat solid yellow gold and composed of eight concentric trapeziums meticulously hand-cut, hand- finished, and assembled by legendary grandmaster Kari Voutilainen.
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton High Jewelry
Emma Stone had one of the more whimsical looks of the night, fitting with her nomination for Best Actress in Poor Things. The young yet seasoned actress clinched the title, marking her second Oscar and second Best Actress win in addition to La La Land back in 2017. While taking the stage to accept her award, Stone stunned in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton. Her look included a custom aquamarine gown with a strapless neckline and dramatic peplum detail. The ensemble was topped off with pieces from the maison’s High Jewelry collection, including stud earrings, rings, and a stunning white diamond choker with a massive yellow stone at the center.
Charlize Theron in Boucheron
We can’t believe it’s been 20 years since Charlize Theron won her first and only Academy Award for Monster. The multitalented actress is a powerhouse in the industry, solidifying her place in cinematic history with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005, a year after her Oscars win. This year, Theron got to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show as a presenter, but she still brought her A-game. She might just have our favorite look of the night in a slew of Boucheron jewels. Theron was fully decked out, wearing the Quatre Radiant Edition pendant earrings, choker, necklace, and bracelet, paved with diamonds on white gold; Vendôme Liseré bangle and ring, paved with diamonds on white gold with black lacquer; and Quatre Double White Edition rings and ear clip, paved with diamonds in white gold with white hyceram.
Colman Domingo in David Yurman
Colman Domingo has been a frontrunner for best red-carpet looks this award season, and tonight’s Oscars was no exception. This season, the actor received his first Academy Award nomination in the Best Actor category for his role in Rustin. He came to win with an ensemble that combined bling and cowboy boots for another showstopping look. He paired his black double-breasted suit with just the right amount of sparkle, including a dazzling brooch bowtie and jewelry from David Yurman.
Gabrielle Union in Tiffany & Co.
At tonight’s 96th Academy Awards, Gabrielle Union joined her husband, Dwayne Wade, who was nominated in the Best Documentary Short category for his work as an executive producer on The Barber of Little Rock. Union rocked Hollywood’s hottest color of the night, silver, with a stunning and sparkling gown complete with Tiffany & Co. jewels with just the right pop of color. She opted for a striking platinum necklace with diamonds and a breathtaking aquamarine of over 31 carats. While the necklace was the star of the show, she finished off the look with Tiffany Soleste platinum and diamond studs and a simple but elegant platinum and diamond ring.
Simu Liu in De Beers
Simu Liu has made a name for himself in recent years with his roles in the Marvel Universe and later the hit film Barbie. He’s yet to land an Oscar nomination but joined the cast and crew of Barbie at the 96th Academy Awards in support of the movie’s eight nominations, including Best Picture. Liu walked the red carpet in modern suiting from Fendi, swapping the traditional button-down and tie for a low-neck shirt. He topped off the look with a brooch from De Beers clasped at the waist. The impressive accessory, beautifully named the Imaginary Nature Brooch, features a platinum setting and a whopping 32.61 carats of diamonds.
Florence Pugh in Bulgari
Florence Pugh is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with among Hollywood’s young stars. The British actress’s resume includes roles in the Marvel Universe, the thriller Don’t Worry Darling, and most recently the Dune series all before the age of 30. While she wasn’t personally up for an award at tonight’s Oscars, she joined her fellow castmates of Oppenheimer, which led the night with a whopping 13 total nominations—and took home seven, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Pugh strutted the red carpet glistening from head to toe in an all-silver look. She topped off the ensemble with jewelry from Bulgari, including rings, earrings, and, most prominently, a gorgeous Serpenti wraparound diamond necklace.
Margot Robbie in Fred Leighton
Though Margot Robbie was snubbed at this year’s Oscars, she held her head high and came dressed to the nines in support of her acclaimed film Barbie and its eight nominations. After a season of wearing playful Barbie-pink, Robbie opted for a more toned-down look for the big award show. She wore a fitted brown Versace gown with just the right amount of sparkle. She accessorized the ensemble with two bold vintage pieces from Fred Leighton: a 1980’s diamond and gold twist cuff by Boivin and a 1940’s gold and diamond bombe ring by Suzanne Belperron.
Sterling K. Brown in Boucheron
Sterling K. Brown is no stranger to accolades thanks to his numerous awards received for his role on the hit television show This is Us. However, this year marked his first nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in American Fiction. In hopes of a win, he took to the red carpet in a timeless look. He opted for sophisticated tux from Dior and a crisp white shirt. He completed the ensemble with the men’s fashion statement of the season: a brooch. Brown chose the Barette brooch in platinum set with diamonds and sapphires circa 1919 from Boucheron’s private collection.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in Tiffany & Co.
Hollywood power couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski arrived to the 96th Academy Awards in looks that perfectly complemented each other on the red carpet. Both stars opted for all white ensembles with silver accents, including some stunning jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Tonight was a big night for Blunt, who was up for her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Oppenheimer. She faced some tough competition, including The Color Purple‘s Danielle Brooks, Barbie‘s America Ferrera, and Nyad‘s Jodie Foster, ultaimtely losing to The Holdovers‘ Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Still, Blunt took the upset in stride and looked stunning while doing so. She wore diamond earrings, rings, and necklace all set in platinum from Tiffany’s while Krasinski looked equally dapper in a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Floral Arrows brooch, a Tiffany 1837 Makers watch, and Diamond Point Square cuff links.
Sandra Hüller in Cartier
Sandra Hüller has a colorful career but rose to prominence the past couple years for her roles in the Oscar-nominated films Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest. For the former, Huller herself notched the nomination for Best Actress. While she ultimately lost to Emma Stone, the attention has made her one to watch on the Hollywood scene. All eyes were on her as she hit the red carpet in a high drama, off-the-shoulder custom gown designed by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli. The old Hollywood glam look was topped off with jewels from Cartier, including the Reflection de Cartier necklace in 18-karat white gold with diamonds.
Anya Taylor-Joy in Tiffany & Co.
Newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy has quickly become one to watch thanks to her portrayl of chess prodigy Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit. Tonight, she attended the Academy Awards as a presenter dressed like a Hollywood A-lister. She sported a gorgeous silver gown complete with platinum jewelry from Tiffany & Co. The young actress hit the red carpet flaunting the elegant look featuring a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany ring and a diamond ring and two-tone necklace in platinum with 18-karat yellow gold accents and diamonds as well as earrings in platinum with diamonds.
Rita Moreno in Verdura
Rita Moreno is a living legend, landing her first and only Oscar back in 1961 for Best Supporting Actress in her breakout role as Anita in the acclaimed West Side Story. This year, the incredible 92-year-old actress served as a presenter dressed in full old Hollywood glam. She paired a dramatic high neck gown from Badgley Mischka with full length black gloves and exceptional jewels from Verdura. The natural diamond earrings dazzled and popped against the voluminous, all-black ensemble.
